So what is Melaleuca alternifolia?

Commonly known as Tea Tree Oil, Melaleuca alternifolia is an essential oil that is derived from the leaves of the Tea Tree.
*Note that the tea plant used to make black and green teas is unrelated to the tea tree.

The chemical constituents in Tea Tree essential oil can help discourage the growth of fungus. It works great with other antifungal oils to fight athlete's foot, treat acne, soothe sunburn and insect bites.  Add up to 6 drops to 1 oz. of lotion or carrier oil.

Tea Tree is also known to fight germs and bacteria. Therefore, it is commonly used in natural toothpastes and homemade kitchen cleansers.
For a super clean toilet, add 5 drops of Tea Tree and 5 drops of Lemon essential oils to 1 cup of vinegar, 1/4 cup of baking soda, 1/4 cup of borax - pour into the toilet and scrub.

With the Spring here and Summer on its way, Tea Tree is a great essential oil to have in your holistic arsenal at home. Stop in and see all the essential oils we have in stock right now!
